Where tuition usually goes wrong here
The Higher Secondary semester shift is the live issue for Kolkata families with a child in Class 11 or 12. A syllabus assessed twice a year rather than once changes how you study it: there is less room to leave a unit until the end, and the first semester matters before the student has really found their footing in the stream. A teacher who has taught the WBCHSE paper through the change is worth more here than one who knows the content alone.
Alongside that, Kolkata's ICSE and ISC schools set a genuinely different kind of paper — longer answers, heavier English, more credit for how a thing is written. Parents often ask for "a Maths tutor" when what the marks actually need is someone who can teach an ISC answer. Matching on the board rather than only the subject is the part of this we take seriously, and it is the first question the counsellor asks.
